Like Sands Through The Hour Glass

Being on time has never been my forte. Is that how you spell forte? Thank goodness for spellcheck.

Anyways, as I was saying, I am rarely ever on-time to anything. Being early never ever happens but once in a VERY blue moon. I am so lucky I have an awesome employer. So very lucky.

This past week, I have been nearly on-time for 2 days. Last week I scored a 3! Some people may think this is a lack of disrespect. They shouldn't be so vain as to think this has anything to do with them. It really is my complete and udder lack of motivation to move from one place to another.

This is especially true in the mornings. I am quite happy staying home and doing what I please all darn day. Who isn't right?

As I was saying, my sudden decision to actually be almost-on-time has been a direct result of my CPAP usage. Its also a result of my accepting that I am more awake at 5:35 than at 6:30am. It makes no sense. It probably has to do with sleep cycles. I think it has to do with the Devil and polish sausage.

Um...so yeah, hopefully this trend of getting up and leaving the house nearly on-time will progress to getting up and leave ON-TIME. I convinced myself for quite some time now that I didn't care if I was on-time or early, but really, honestly, I do care. I hate being known as the slacker. I don't aspire high in my career, but I do aspire higher than the rank of slacker.

Have a darn great weekend ya'll!

Fleas, dust, and hair OH MY!

Yes, I know, lame reference to the Wizard of Oz. I spent the past weekend attempting to de-flea my home. It wouldn't have been such a big deal if I were a better housekeeper. It would have been easy if the floors weren't carpeted in cat hair, mail, nintendos, socks, clothing, pillows, blankets, books, cats, people...!

So, the process goes like this. Its really very simple.
1. Vacuum all upholstered or carpeted surfaces.
2. Spray all surfaces with insecticide. (I could have done the fogger, but you had to turn off the pilot light, and I don't know how.)
3. Get all humans and felines out of the house.
4. When you return, powder cats.

Then, when despite your best efforts doesn't work, repeat in two weeks.

Well, after 2 days of vacuuming, I had the worst allergic reaction. I actually had to take off work due to a massive headache that sits in my neck and shoulders and wraps it's ugly spiky arms around the top of my head and digs its nails into my eyes. No medicine has helped. I believe I heard it laughing as I popped 2 ibuprofen earlier. I am however, in a vertical position today and at work for half the day. So things are looking up.

Unfortunately, the cats were scratching this morning and as B combed my white long-hair, I saw them practicing for their circus debut. Looks like next weekend is another round of Kristine-The-Exterminator/Wheezy-Sneezy-Whiny-Girl.

Friday Favorites

Some of my favorite things this week:

Victoria Secret - Body By Victoria UltraSmooth Hiphugger
They are soft, smooth, and fit my big badunkadunk beautifully. No riding up - no falling down. 3 for $30

Messenger Bags
I really want one of these to carry all that crap that I need for work, but don't want to shove in my teensy weensy purse.

Nature Valley Fruit Crisps
Only 50 little calories and very crunchy. I bought a box of 20 pouches at Sam's Club. Yum Yum.

Head and Shoulders Dry Scalp Care
Regular Head and Shoulders is blue, smells funny, and never really took care of my dandruff/dry scalp issues. This has a fresh scent and really has reduced the itchy dry scalp I suffer with.

PTs Coffee
Their coffee is so delicious. I wish I could afford to drink it everyday, instead of settling for cheap Folgers. Of course, I would also have to get out of bed earlier, and I am only willing to sacrifice sleep for a few things.

Might Girl
This woman is funny, witty, and funny. Did I mention she is funny? She also publishes Mighty Goods which is a shopping blog. Noone loves shopping more than I.

Growing up...

Yesterday was also my girls' first day of 7th grade.

At 5:30 am I woke them up and they drug their butts out to the living room. At 6:00 am they finally started getting ready. By 6:45 am they were ready to go: breakfast eaten, teeth brushed, hair done, clothes on. At 7:05 am they headed out to the bus stop across the street. B and I kept waving at them. Good thing it was just them at the bus stop or I do believe those kids would have been completely embarassed.

At 7:13 am, the bus pulled up and swallowed them up. I felt a pang of sadness, as if this was the last time I would see my girls as little girls. We have a whole new journey ahead of us.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

Yesterday, it was B and I's 2 year anniversary. Of course, me being the girl, I was excited about it and, him being the boy, was not.

Me: B, you know what Wednesday is?
B: No, what is it?
Me: It's our 2 year anniversary!!
B: Huh, thats cool. (With just as much enthusiasm as a wilted piece of lettuce.)
Me: Come on B! We have made it 2 YEARS and we are STILL HAPPY! That is something to celebrate!
B: Yeah, I am just not into that kind of thing. I think 5 years or 10 years is something to celebrate, not 2.
Me: But....its important to me, so it should be to you also.
B: I just don't think its that big of a deal.

Mentally, I am freaking out at this point and pondering whether our relationship will make it past this point. How in the world could I continue to be with a man that doesn't take anniversaries seriously? (Haha) So, I took a few deep breathes, stopped the female I-over-analyse-everything thinking, and just had a little hope that he would do something to show me that he appreciated our time together.

Last night, B cooked me a steak dinner. (I knew he would step up!!) He singed his eyebrows and hair in an attempt to get that grill good and hot. I nearly came home to a grilled boyfriend.

A grilled boyfriend was not what I would have wanted for our anniversary, but a grilled steak suited me just fine.

I love you so much B. You are the best boyfriend in the entire world. I am so lucky to have you. I hope we continue having as much fun as we have had in the past. XOXO

Then, after all that, today I realized that our anniversary isn't until August 23rd.....NEXT Wednesday. So.....it looks like we celebrated a week early. LOL
I still haven't told him yet.

E.T. on the Tree

This is ET. My new quad. Its one of the very first Polaris's ever made, so its pretty old. The headlight and handle bars are what give it that "Extra Terrestrial" look. The seat is really cooshy. We only paid $400 for it.

We bought it so that Beau and I can go out and have fun together. Normally, we have to take turns on his quad, which I admit is REALLY BORING. He has a really nice Banshee that the people in Oakland like to mug when they drive by. Mine, not so much.

So this Sunday we went out to the Oakland Trails to ride around. We met up with another couple who rode a quad and a dirt bike. They were really nice and very interesting people. We rode all around the trails, and through the woods. My bike was running so-so, but it was getting the job done.

Then I hit a tree.

I was coming around a tight corner, then had to switch back the other direction very quickly. I must have over compensated because I slid around and tagged a small tree. My ass-end kept sliding and I ended up stuck between 2 trees. I guess thats what I get for trying to keep up with the girl up ahead of me who 1) has a new quad 2) has more driving experience.

After that, things weren't quite the same. I hit another tough spot not to long after that and we found out that my quad-on-tree incident caused one tire to be pushed back really far. First day out with the thing and I smash it into a tree. Good going Kristine.

Then, after taking a rest for awhile, the darn thing decided it had had enough and wasn't going to go anymore. Beau managed to get it back to the trailer, but I think its going to need a bit of an tuneup before we go out there again. It sure was fun though.

How was everyone's weekend?

A Certain Kind Of Circus

A story of two cats.
Originally uploaded by Normalcy Overrated.
Hi, my name is Kristine, and I have fleas. Well, not me personally. The owners of said fleas would be the two cats in the picture to the right. Look at their faces, they are GUILTY.

A month ago, we gave them a flea bath, put flea treatment on them, and haphazardly sprayed the house with flea spray. We ignorantly thought that our flea problem could be so easily taken care of. We apparently are retards.

My cats are indoor-outdoor cats. They consistently go outdoors, then 10 minutes later, come back indoors. If fleas are illegal aliens, then the cats are smugglers, and I am the Border Patrol. Apparently I have FAILED at putting up a big enough barrier between the two and they are great smugglers. Look at their poker faces, they aren't talking.

This morning I saw a flea on my kitchen table. Its time for immigration reform, and unlike the need to be sensitive when it comes to humans, fleas will get no mercy this weekend.

Farmer's Market Wednesdays at the Capitol

Every Wednesday I visit the Farmer's Market on the Topeka Capitol grounds. I never have enough money to buy everything I would like to. Today they had sweet corn, cantalope, tomatoes, peaches, zuchini, cucumbers, peppers, fresh wheat bread and so much more.

Two things caught my nose today: cantalope and peaches

I have already downed 2 peaches that were just as delicious and juicy as they smelled. I have the cantalope on the floor by my desk in a plastic bag. The sweet smell radiating up to me is intoxicating.

Technical disappointment

I checked my email this morning, much like I do every morning.

I log in.
I scan my inbox for anything important.
I head directly to my "Bulk" mail to see what things I am being offered.

Much to my disappointment, there was not one bulk email offering me a larger penis, better sex, or the man of my dreams. I feel like I need to cry.

I'm back from my trip to the oven.

Lake of the Ozarks
Originally uploaded by Normalcy Overrated.
The Lake of the Ozarks is just beautiful. The lake was gorgeous and I loved the tree lined roads. There is nothing like getting back to nature.

There were tons of boats on the water and it was creating huge waves in the swimming area, which were fun to try to jump. The waves would slam me into the dock and I have a bunch of bruises, but the water was a nice relief from the heat.

The heat. The upper 90 degree heat. I have never sweat so much in my life. If it wasn't for all the junk food I ate, I would have lost 10 pounds for sure. The camp we stayed at, Camp Rising Sun, had electricity and nice bathrooms in the bunk houses, but no air conditioning. It would have been fine if the main gathering place had A/C, but the only relief was the walk-in cooler. At least it got into the 70's at night and we brought fans.

We went to Big Shot on Saturday night and paid $30 for 2 hours of go-cart riding. That was alot of fun. We rode the Slick Track go-carts the most. They would put down this stuff on the ground to make the road slippery, then you would wip your go-cart round and round. So much fun.

It was alot of fun meeting Beau's extended family. They are all great people (even though one great aunt thought we were engaged; assumed I had a rough life; and had to inquire about my religion).

My friend Amy got married this weekend on a boat at Osage Beach and though the waters were choppy due to tons of speed boats and jet skis, it was still beautiful. She looked really pretty. I was sorry we couldn't stay longer, but the boyfriend was wanting to get back for the family activities. Congrats Ames!

I have also decided that Beau is a keeper. They say you don't know anyone until you have traveled with them. Well, he wasn't half bad to travel with, haha.

All in all, it was a fun weekend. Next time, if the forecast is hot, I am getting a hotel room with air conditioning.

Check out my pics in my Flickr!
